Narooma Oyster Festival

The Narooma Oyster Festival celebrates NSW’s iconic and indigenous shellfish – the Rock Oyster – each year on the first weekend in May.

Since the first gathering on the shores of Wagonga Inlet almost two decades ago, the festival has grown into Australia’s premier oyster celebration and southern NSW’s largest food and drink event, attracting between 9,000 and 10,000 visitors annually.

The festival brings together oyster farmers from NSW estuaries alongside celebrated chefs, producers and beverage makers from near and far. In addition to rock oysters, the program champions the skill of oyster farmers in the Australian Oyster Shucking Championships and Australia’s Biggest Oyster competition – home to the current world record holder.

Festival-goers can also enjoy premium dining and beverage experiences, Ultimate Oyster Experiences, cooking demonstrations, cruises, Yuin cultural experiences, arts, fireworks, and live music – all set against the stunning backdrop of Narooma’s Wagonga Inlet.
